About This Directory
We're an independent guide to Ontario's skilled-trades colleges — built to help students compare schools honestly, on the criteria that actually matter for a trades career.
Independent by design
Best Ontario Colleges Directory is an independent editorial directory. We list both public colleges and private career colleges across Ontario, and we don't run any training programs ourselves. Our goal is simple: help prospective students compare skilled-trades colleges on consistent, transparent criteria — by city and by trade — so they can choose with confidence.
How we rank colleges
Every college receives an editorial score out of 10, calculated as a weighted average of six criteria. We weight the factors that most affect a trades student's outcome — hands-on learning, career results, and student experience — most heavily.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Student Reviews | 25% |
| Hands-On Training | 20% |
| Career Outcomes | 20% |
| Industry Connections | 15% |
| Program Flexibility | 10% |
| Tuition Transparency | 10% |
Rankings last reviewed: June 2026.
How scores are assigned
Scores are assigned editorially by our team from publicly available information — program structure, hands-on training ratio, certifications, industry partnerships, tuition transparency, and published outcomes — together with first-party student reviews as they are submitted and approved. As more verified student reviews come in, the Student Reviews component of each score reflects them. Scores are reviewed and updated periodically.
Student reviews
Reviews are first-party and text-only, and every submission is moderated before it appears so the directory stays genuine and useful. Submit your review to help future students — we're building this out college by college.
